Web design, care plans and SEO. One UK team.
Most small businesses end up with three suppliers who spend more time blaming each other than fixing the site. The developer says it is a hosting issue. The hosting company says it is a plugin. The SEO agency says the developer built it wrong. Meanwhile the site is down and no one is picking up the phone.
We do web design and SEO services in the UK as one integrated offer: hand-coded websites, monthly website care plans, and SEO that actually ranks. Build it, care for it, rank it. One team, one point of contact, no finger-pointing. Whether you are launching, migrating, or trying to rescue a site that has been ignored for two years, we handle the whole thing.
What we do
Three services, sold together or separately. Most clients start with one and add the others as trust builds.
Build it
Hand-coded websites for small businesses, e-commerce stores, and lead-gen sites. No page builders, no WordPress plus 47 plugins. Sub 2-second load times, mobile-first, delivered in 5 to 21 days depending on scope.
See what's inside step 02Care for it
Monthly maintenance so your site stays online, fast, and secure. Weekly backups, plugin and core updates, uptime monitoring, security scans, and small edits included. From £49/mo. Month to month, no lock-in.
See what's covered step 03Rank it
SEO that actually moves the needle. On-page fixes, technical audits, content upgrades, and manual link building on real sites with real traffic. Monthly reports in plain English so you know what we did and what it earned. From £69/mo.
See how we rank youHand-coded websites, built to last.
We do not use Elementor. We do not use Divi. We do not sell you a WordPress theme with 20 sliders you will never use. Every site we build is hand-coded, which is the difference between a site that loads in 1.4 seconds and one that loads in 6. See the full hand-coded website design service page for tier pricing and delivery timelines.
Hand-coded, not a page builder
Page builders and template themes stuff your pages with generic markup, dozens of third-party scripts, and a plugin for every feature. That is why most small business sites feel slow, break after a WordPress update, and never quite look how the designer promised. It is also why they never rank.
Every site we build starts from a blank file. We write HTML, CSS and JavaScript directly. No bloat, no plugin dependency chain, no monthly licence fees waiting to break when someone forgets to renew. The upside: sites that load fast, pass Core Web Vitals, and do not need a plugin update every Tuesday. The downside: content edits need us or a proper CMS, not drag-and-drop. Most clients trade the theoretical freedom for the practical reliability.
Websites for small businesses
The bread and butter. A small business web design project is typically 3 to 8 pages: home, about, services, contact, sometimes a blog or a portfolio. Priced flat from £19 at the small end up to £599 for a full custom build with a CMS. Delivered in around 10 to 14 days from brief to launch. Includes hosting setup, SSL, contact form, WhatsApp integration, basic on-page SEO, and Google Analytics wired up on day one.
We work best with owner-operators and small teams who want a site that actually reflects the business rather than a template with your logo dropped in. If your budget is tight, we start with a simple version and build up rather than cutting corners on a big one.
Landing pages and single-purpose sites
A landing page is a different thing from a website. One page, one message, one call to action. Ideal for a product launch, a specific campaign, an event, or a lead-magnet download. Turnaround around 5 days. We handle the copy structure, conversion elements, form or Calendly integration, and speed optimisation. If you are running paid ads, this is what you point them at, not your homepage.
Redesigning a site you already have
Our website redesign services are half a build and half a migration. The tricky part is not the new design. The tricky part is not tanking your search rankings while you do it. Every redesign starts with a rankings audit, URL mapping, and a 301 redirect plan. New pages get built on a staging environment, tested, and only then swapped in. Search Console is monitored for the four weeks after launch. It is the part most agencies quietly skip because it is not visible in the design. It is also the part that decides whether you keep the traffic you already had.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Google measures your site's speed as an actual ranking factor, and users measure it with the back button. Core Web Vitals is the specific set of numbers Google looks at: Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift. Most WordPress sites fail at least one. Hand-coded sites usually pass all three without special optimisation, because there is less code running. If you have an existing site that is slow, our website speed optimisation service handles it as a one-off engagement rather than a rebuild, provided the underlying code is salvageable.
Monthly website care plans that pay for themselves.
Most site owners only think about maintenance when something breaks. By then, it is too late. A broken form loses leads. A hacked site tanks rankings for months. A slow page kills conversions before anyone reads it. A care plan means someone qualified is watching every week.
What a website care plan covers
A care plan is a fixed monthly retainer for keeping your site healthy. Every plan includes off-site backups, plugin and core updates (tested before going live), 24/7 uptime monitoring, weekly security and malware scans, SSL certificate renewal, and a monthly report showing what we did. Small content edits are included on a per-tier time budget: 30 minutes on Care, 2 hours on Care Plus, 4 hours of dev time on Care Pro. Anything beyond that is quoted separately, before we start, with no surprise invoices.
The three tiers cover most needs. Care at £49/mo suits brochure sites and blogs that just need to stay online. Care Plus at £109/mo suits lead-gen sites and e-commerce stores where downtime costs money. Care Pro at £199/mo has a 4-hour emergency SLA, dedicated dev hours, and a direct WhatsApp line for revenue-critical sites. All month to month, no contracts, cancel anytime with 14 days notice, 30-day money back on the first month. Full detail on the care plans page.
WordPress sites
WordPress is fine when it is looked after and a nightmare when it is not. Our WordPress maintenance services mean plugin and core updates run in a staging environment first (so an update never breaks your live site), incompatible plugins get flagged and replaced, security hardening happens quietly in the background, and a proper backup exists in case something ever needs rolling back. We take on WordPress sites regardless of who originally built them. The starting point is a free technical audit so you know what state your site is actually in before you commit.
When something breaks at 9pm on a Sunday
Our emergency website support is the reason care plans exist. If your site goes down, the response window depends on your tier: 2 business days on Care, 24 hours on Care Plus, 4 hours emergency SLA on Care Pro (any time, weekends included). The first job is always to get the site back online, then to work out what caused it, then to make sure it does not happen again. Emergency work outside your SLA window is available as a one-off engagement, priced by hour with a fixed-cap quote before we start.
Hacked or infected sites
The signs are usually spam pages appearing in Google search results, browser warnings when visitors try to load the site, or hosting providers suspending the account without warning. Our hacked website repair service runs a specific order of operations: contain the infection, remove the malicious code, patch the entry point (usually an outdated plugin or a weak admin password), submit a reconsideration request to Google Search Console, and monitor for 30 days. We take on hacked-site cleanup regardless of whether the site is on one of our care plans. The cleanup itself is a one-off cost, but the site then usually moves to a Care Plus or Care Pro plan so it does not happen again.
SEO that actually moves rankings.
SEO is not magic and it is not a checkbox exercise. It is a slow, compounding process of fixing the parts of your site Google cannot understand, writing content people actually want to read, and getting real websites to link to yours. Anyone selling you fast results is either quoting for terms nobody searches for or planning to cut corners you will pay for later. Full detail on the affordable SEO services hub, including tier breakdowns and manual backlink grades.
On-page and technical SEO
Everything Google sees before it decides where to rank you. Title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, internal links, image alt text, schema markup, page speed, mobile usability, crawl efficiency, XML sitemaps. Most small business sites have obvious problems on all of these. Our technical SEO services find them, rank them by impact, and either we fix them or we hand you a document your developer can work through. Included on every SEO retainer as the starting point, or available as a one-off engagement.
Manual link building on real sites
Backlinks from other websites are still one of the strongest ranking signals. The problem is that most of the industry is selling absolute garbage: bulk packages of links from private blog networks, comment spam, or foreign-language blogs Google flags on sight. We do not do any of that. Every link we build is placed manually, on a real website with real traffic in your niche, after outreach to the site owner. Our starting grade is £9 per link with published pricing on the pricing page, and every placement includes DA, traffic, and a live URL you can verify yourself.
The bar is: would we be embarrassed to show this link to another SEO who knew what they were looking at? If yes, we do not build it. That means slower delivery and higher costs per link than the cheap providers, but the links actually move rankings and do not evaporate at the next Google update. Full delivery process on our link building service page.
Guest posts and blogger outreach
Our guest posting service means a longer piece of content published on someone else's site with a link back to yours. Blogger outreach is the process of getting to that: identifying real blogs in your niche, pitching a topic that fits their audience, and writing content their readers will actually read. Done right, one guest post on a genuinely relevant site is worth more than 20 links from generic directories. Done cheaply, it is just paying to be published on a network of low-quality sites that all look the same and Google is already discounting.
We handle the vetting, the pitching, the writing, and the publishing. You get a live URL and the option to review the content before it goes up. This is the higher-cost end of link building and it works best for competitive terms where you need topical authority, not just link volume.
Niche edits
Our niche edit services mean adding a link to an existing article on someone else's site, rather than a brand new guest post. Cheaper than a guest post because no new content is being written, faster to place, and often better placed because it is going into an article that already ranks and has existing authority. We use them alongside guest posts, not instead of them: guest posts build topical authority, niche edits accelerate rankings for specific target pages. The important thing is that the host article is genuinely relevant and the site is real. Half the "niche edit" services on the market are just adding your link to an old post on a site nobody reads.
Local search and Google Business Profile
If you sell to local customers, Google Business Profile is often more important than the website itself. Being in the top three on the local map pack for a search like "plumber near me" or "wedding photographer London" delivers more leads than page-one organic for most small businesses. Our Google Business Profile optimisation service covers: category selection, service and product listings, weekly posts, review generation strategy, response management, photos, and business description. Combined with local on-page SEO (city name in title tags, LocalBusiness schema, embedded map, NAP consistency across directories), it is the fastest path to actual phone calls for local service businesses.
Direction vs delivery: consulting
If you already have an in-house team that can execute SEO but needs senior strategic direction rather than agency-managed delivery, we offer a separate consulting service. A UK SEO consultant engagement gives you direct access to a senior member of our team for audits, strategic roadmaps, or advisory retainers, with no delivery-team handoff friction. Right when you need the "what to do" answered but already have someone who can do it.
Who we work with
We focus on small and mid-sized businesses in a handful of verticals where we have real depth. Not because we cannot handle others, but because pattern-recognition matters and we would rather be excellent at four things than average at forty.
E-commerce
Shopify, WooCommerce, custom carts. Product SEO, category structure, checkout speed.
Courier & logistics
Tracking pages, quote calculators, real client work at sharmacourier.co.uk.
SaaS & tools
Landing pages, comparison content, product-led SEO. Rhinorank.io is one of ours.
Local services
Trades, clinics, agencies. Local SEO plus Google Business Profile as the growth engine.
Our sweet spot is a business between £250k and £5m annual revenue with a working website that is under-performing, or a new founder who needs the whole stack built from scratch. If you are running a Fortune 500 marketing team, we are not your fit. If you are a bootstrapped operator or a small team that needs one integrated supplier for build, care, and search, we are exactly your fit.
What we do not take on: gambling, adult, cryptocurrency-adjacent, or anything that requires paid ad management. If your growth plan is Google Ads and Meta Ads, we will point you at a paid-media specialist rather than pretend we cover it.
How we work
The operational stuff most agencies bury on the About page. It matters more than the case studies.
Direct contact, no ticket system. You get a WhatsApp number and an email address, both of which reach a real person on our team within business hours. No support desk, no auto-responders, no "your request has been logged as ticket 47823 and will be reviewed within 5 business days." If it is urgent, message. If it can wait, email. If you want to talk it through, book a call.
Monthly reports in plain English. Every retainer client (care plans and SEO) gets a monthly report on the first of the month. It says what we did, what we found, what it earned, and what is next. Not a dashboard export padded with GA screenshots. If you cannot forward the report to a non-technical colleague and have them understand it in three minutes, we have not done our job.
Month to month, no lock-in. Every service is billed monthly. Care plans have 14 days notice to cancel. SEO retainers have 30 days. Website builds are fixed-scope, milestone-billed, one-off projects. The only lock-in is the natural one: SEO compounds and stopping halfway means losing most of the value. We tell you upfront when a strategy needs 6+ months to pay off, so nobody signs on expecting month-two results.
Transparent pricing, no hidden fees. Every rate is published on our pricing page in your currency of choice: GBP, USD, or PKR. Website builds are quoted flat based on scope after a free 30-minute call. Care plans and SEO have fixed tier pricing. There are no setup fees, no onboarding fees, no "strategy fees" attached to a retainer, and no admin fees for cancellation. If the number on the pricing page is £129/mo, the number on your invoice is £129/mo.
30-day money back on your first month. If we are not the right fit after the first month, we refund the fee, hand you the work we have done, and part ways cleanly. Fewer than 5% of clients ever ask, but the offer exists because we would rather lose the money than argue about it.
What it costs
The short version. Full detail with tier breakdowns, per-link grades and slider calculators lives on the pricing page.

Why hand-coded beats a builder
The single decision that quietly determines whether your site is fast, secure, and cheap to run for the next five years, or a maintenance headache that costs money every month.
Speed. A hand-coded landing page ships around 40 to 80 KB of code total. A WordPress page built with Elementor typically ships 800 KB to 3 MB, before images. That is a 10-to-30x difference on the wire, and it shows up in Core Web Vitals scores, Google rankings, and bounce rates. On slow mobile connections (which is most of your traffic in most niches), the gap is much bigger.
Nothing to break. A typical WordPress site runs a page builder, an SEO plugin, a caching plugin, a security plugin, a backup plugin, a form plugin, a related-posts plugin, and 30 other things you have accumulated over the years. Every one of them ships updates. Every update is a chance to break the site. Hand-coded sites have none of that surface area. There is nothing to update because the code is all yours.
No monthly licence creep. Divi is $89 a year. Elementor Pro is $99. WP Rocket is $59. Yoast Premium is $99. ManageWP is $2 per site per month. Every plugin you rely on is a subscription that renews forever and gets more expensive at renewal time. Over five years, most WordPress sites pay more in plugin licences than a hand-coded rebuild would have cost.
The trade-off, honestly. Hand-coded means you cannot drag-and-drop new pages yourself. If you need to add a page, you either email us or we build you a proper CMS layer at the higher website tiers. Most small business owners were never going to touch the site anyway, so the constraint is theoretical. If you plan to publish 5 blog posts a week yourself, WordPress is the better choice and we will tell you so on the call.
Common questions
How long before I see SEO results?
For most sites: 90 to 120 days for early movement on non-competitive keywords, 6 to 12 months for meaningful traffic on competitive ones. Anyone promising results in 30 days is either quoting for terms nobody searches for, or planning to cut corners you will pay for later. We tell you upfront which category your keywords fall into so nobody signs on expecting month-two results.
Do you lock clients into contracts?
No. Every service is month to month. Care plans need 14 days notice to cancel, SEO retainers need 30 days, website builds are fixed-scope one-off projects. The only lock-in is the natural one: SEO compounds and stopping mid-way is expensive because you lose most of the value you have paid for. We will not talk you into a 12-month prepay to hit a sales target.
What makes you different from other agencies?
Three things. One: one team for build, care, and SEO instead of three suppliers who blame each other. Two: sites are hand-coded, not built on WordPress plus 47 plugins, so there is less to break and less to maintain. Three: reports are written by humans in plain English, not auto-generated dashboards padded with jargon. The rest of the industry does one or two of these. Doing all three is the actual differentiator.
Can you take over a website you did not build?
Yes. WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, static, or bespoke hand-coded. We start with a free technical audit so you know exactly what state your site is actually in, and what a care plan will and will not cover, before you commit. If we find something structurally wrong (like a site built on a discontinued theme with no support), we will tell you honestly whether it is worth maintaining or worth rebuilding.
My WordPress site has 40 plugins and I hate it. What do I do?
Two options. Option one: we put it on a Care Pro plan, keep it patched, and slowly retire dead plugins over 3 to 6 months. This is right when the site earns money reliably and you cannot afford downtime. Option two: we rebuild it hand-coded and you never think about plugin updates again. This is right when the site is either loss-making or already broken enough that a rebuild is cheaper than fixing what is there. The audit tells us which.
How does pricing work?
Websites are fixed-scope one-off quotes based on what you need. Care plans and SEO are monthly, billed in your currency of choice (GBP, USD or PKR). Per-link backlinks are per-order. All rates are published on the pricing page. No hidden setup fees, no scope creep, no surprise invoices. What is on the pricing page is what you pay.
Book a free 30-minute call.
We listen, ask a few questions, and give you a clear answer on what to do next. No sales pitch, no pushy quotes, no locked-in scope before you know the price. If we are not right for you, we will say so and point you at someone who is.
